Chamfer ^





A chamfer or bevel connects two objects with an angled line
Bevels can defined by two length or one length one angle

Blend Curves ^






Creates a spline in the gap between two selected lines or curves
The result shape of spline depends on the specified continuity

Chapter 8 Working with Layout


Create New Layout

By default, every new dtrawing with one model space and two paper space - Layout.


Click Layout1 tab at the bottom of the drawing
Click "+" sign


Layout3 is created with the default settings of paper size and plot device

Setup Paper Size for Layout

Every new layout use the default paper size and plot device



Right-click on Layout tab - Page Setup Manager



Create Rectangular Viewport

Viewport is a key component to plot model space geometry from a layout
Viewport acts as a display portal for the geometry in model space
By default, every layout automatically generate a single viewport.



Layout tab > Layout Viewports panel > Rectangular



Creating multiple viewports in a single layout to display different aspects of the model geometry at different scale factor on the same paper


Create layout viewport on their own layer, set the layer to No Plot




Move or Resize Viewport

You can move the viewport by Move command


Select viewport, make the grip hot, drag and resize the viewport.

Switch Layout to Model Space

Double-click inside the viewport to switch from paper space to model space within the layout


Double-click outside the viewport to switch back to paper space

Layout Viewport Scale

While in paper space, select the viewport
Status bar - Scale


While in model space
Status bar - Scale

Lock Layout Viewport

Lock the viewport prevent accidentally zoom and pan to change the viewport scale

Chapter 9 Annotating Drawing


Multiline Text ^


Place paragraph style notes on drawings
Multiline text with rich formats



Annotate tab > Text panel > Multiline Text






Text frame property has been added to MText objects to create a border around the text


Text justification based on the current boundary box

Single Line Text

Create one or more lines of text, each text line is an independent object.



 Annotate tab > Text panel > Single Line




Edit Single Line Text




Double-click on single line text to edit


Select top line of text
Change the text height to 4.5 on Properties palettes

Text Justify

Changes the justification point of the selected text objects without changing their location

Text Align

Aligns and spaces selected text objects


Annotate tab > Text panel > Text Align

Scaling Text

Enlarges or reduces selected text objects without changing their locations


Annotate tab > Text panel expand > Scale

Double-click on multiline text object

Double-click on single line text object



You can change the content only



Select single line text and turn on Properties palettes
You can edit the formatting by Properties palettes

Insert Table ^



Home tab > Annotation panel > Table



Specified the number of column and row, cloumn width, row height.
Set the cell styles to contain Title, Header and Data.

Table Editing

After insert and enter information for the table, you may want to resize the table, re-adjust the column width or row height, add background color to make the table more distinguish.

Select the cell, change the table cell background color on the Table Cell ribbon.
