Working Environment

Start tab

Start tab allow you to start a new drawing, open an existing drawing file, open a recently open drawing file, or sign-in to Autodesk 360

Quick Access Toolbar

This is the only toolbar in AutoCAd 2016
You can access the common commands, like New, Open, Save, Save As, Plot, Undo, Redo.

Open Drawing

Quick Access Toolbar - Open

New Drawing

Quick Access Toolbar - New

Select template acadiso for the metric drawing

Save drawing in Lower Version

Quick Access Toolbar - Save As

Select the version to saved

Navigating in Drawing

In a big drawing, you need to navigating to the different location for the objects or area.

Regenerate Drawing

Sometime you may not be able to zoom or pan the the drawing

Typing the command "RE" to regenerate the drawing

If the circle, arc or ellipse not appear smooth in the drawing, you can REGEN it to make it smooth.

Chapter 2 Basic Drawing

Line

Create a series of contiguous line segments
Each segment is a line object that can be edited separately

Home tab > Draw panel > Line

Circle

The default method is to specify center and radius

Home tab > Draw panel > Circle

Arc ^

Arcs are drawn in a counterclockwise direction by default
Hold down Ctrl key as you drag to drawn in a clockwise direction

Home tab > Draw panel > Start, End, Radius

Rectangle ^

Creates a retangular polyline

Home tab > Draw panel > Rectangle

Polygon

Creates an equilateral closed polyline

Home tab > Draw panel > Polygon

Drawing Precision

GridMode ^

 

Lines or dots fill up the entire XY plane as a guide, like the old style graph paper.

Object Snap ^

Object snap provide a way to specify precise locations

Running Object Snap

Select the object snaps which are not override each other

Object Snap Override

Override the running object snap and snap for the next point only

Shift + Right-click after a command

Polar Tracking ^

Specify Polar Angles
Tracks the cursor along specified polar angles

Status bar - Polar Tracking

PolarSnap ^

Specify Polar Distances
Restricts cursor movement to incremental distances along polar tracking angle

Status bar - Polar Snap

Object Snap Tracking ^

Track the cursor along vertical and horizontal alignment paths from object snap points
